DR. SHAPIRO
DPM
Dr Shapiro is a clinical podiatrist, teacher, residency program director, and writer who practices in the Pomona, California area as member of the Empire Foot and Ankle Center team. He graduated with a BA in English and BS in microbiology from Northern Arizona University in 1998, then went on to podiatric undergraduate training at the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco. He completed a 3-year podiatric medicine and surgery residency at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan. While in practice for the past 17 years, he has been an online editor of the Practice Perfect blog where he advocates for student and resident education and an improved understanding of lower extremity biomechanics. His clinical interests include nonsurgical and surgical care for all aspects of patients suffering from foot and ankle complaints. He has been happily married to his wife, Melissa, for 22 years, and spends his personal time with his two children.
